We've designed our hiring process to be structured and fair without being overwhelming and we've shared it with you below.
.01
Your CV
Have your most recent CV (or resume) to hand, for reference.
Start with a blank document and create a CV specifically for the job you're applying for.
Here's what we think is a good idea to include:
Mention specific projects you worked on or managed.
What was the outcome?
How successful were they and how did you measure that success?
If you've been in management or leadership roles, tell us how you managed and led your team.
What did you learn?
If you've recently graduated, or are a school leaver you've still got something to put on a CV.
What school or University projects or activities did you participate in?
Did you lead any team, or group, activities?
Keep your CV brief, more than 2 pages are probably too long.
We only need to know about your previous 2 jobs in detail.
Previous jobs can form part of a simple list:
Employer
Dates of employment
Position held
Reason for leaving
.02
Your Cover Letter
We require the submission of a cover letter. As a guide here's what we think is worth mentioning:
What do you like about the role you're applying for.
What do you think we should note on your CV, as it applies to the job you're applying for.
Anything that's not on your CV that you think should be brought to our attention.
.03
Your Application
When you're ready to apply for the job you've chosen, hit the apply now button.
You'll need to upload your CV and your covering letter.
You've also got space to provide us with relevant work samples, such as your design portfolio, code, apps, content you created or projects you were involved in.
Are you suitable?
Whether we think you're suitable for your chosen role, or not, we shall let you know that we'd like to talk to you within 5 working days from the submission date of your application. If you sent an open application, it may take us a bit longer to get back to you.
.04
Interviews And Assessments
Buckhill has the same basic interview process for the majority of positions in the company. For technical roles, an additional technical test (or if warranted a small project) shall be requested.
A short virtual conversation
As a first step in the process, we like to have a short conversation with you. This will usually be with a member of our HR team, where we go through the key skills you'll need for the role.
Online assessments
We'll ask you to complete an assessment via TestGorilla, the platform we use for testing all the candidates. The assessment consists of five tests related to your role which assess your technical skills and personality. More information about TestGorilla assessments can be found here.
Technical task
For technical positions, we may ask you to complete a short coding project. This could be a short case study or providing sample working code to a written specification.
In-depth interview
Assuming you pass the tests, we'll invite you to a formal interview (remote or in-person, depending on your situation). We want our interviews to be an equitable and inclusive experience to ensure that everyone feels comfortable.
We'll assess your skills as follows:
Structured interview questions using clear rubrics which are appropriate to the role you're applying for.
Open-ended questions to see how you solve problems, how you think and interact with a team of people and to see what your strengths are.
.05
Decision And Offer
Once the interview and assessment process is complete, we'll let you know whether we wish to make you an offer of employment, or not, within 5 working days of the last interview.

Onboarding and Your First 90 Days
Once we've signed all the paperwork and you're ready to go, each department has a tailored onboarding plan to get you started. Don't worry, you're not thrown in at the deep-end!
Things we cover:
Getting you a company login and introducing you to the helpdesk who provide you with your equipment and credentials
Pointing you toward Confluence, where your 90-day plan has been prepared. This includes:
A list of official documents to read
Guiding thoughts and meet your team page
Your first, second, third and fourth-week planner
90-day milestones you can agree with your team lead
Other helpful resources
And remember, say hello to everyone in the Town Hall channel on your first day!
Your Career Advancement Plan
How you progress and advance is only guided by us. We want you to show us things you're passionate about and where you can grow and advance in your career, in partnership with us.
After your first 90 days you'll be invited to speak with your team lead to participate in a self-assessment process.
Start by thinking through your existing strengths and development areas. What are you really good at? Where could you improve? This will help you figure out what to target. Look at past performance reviews for inspiration, or reach out to the people you work with closely for feedback.
Choose SMART goals for your growth: they should be Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. Keep the number of goals low and track opportunities that will help you achieve the goals you set. If you're not sure where to start, look at your growth areas from the previous section.
Write Your Own Success Story!
We've created a success-framework which we hope you'll benefit from as a new employee. You can read more about how you can progress on the careers progression section.
Browse our departments and see if there's a role that fits you. If not, send us an open application and we'll see where you may be able to fit.
We're always open to feedback as this is an evolving framework that adapts and changes as we receive more and more great ideas.
We welcome comments from everyone, even non-employees!
Feel free to send us an email with your thoughts and suggestions.
Our HR team are happy to answer any questions or queries you may have.

The amount of effort and care put into organizing the requirements documents was top-notch. Just today, I saw an update to change some tiny typos in the document. This was exceptional.
I love how much documentation was put in. I love that you guys provided the tools you use and that we can use. The test was super descriptive, which is also great. It's a good introduction to the company from the outside.
Very interesting interview tasks, I have actually gained some new skills when working on this.
